Application Engineer

The role for the Application Engineer is to work as part of the Engineering team to complement existing activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform modifications & enhancements to existing systems
  • Expanding customer systems for new revenue meters
  • Oversee the companies laboratory and testing functions
  • Administer the Company’s customer support contract activities
  • Review support reports & action as appropriate
  • Respond to support or information requests
  • Develop & expand support documentation
  • Perform period system reviews & report to system owner
  • Occasionally visiting customers to review system performance & functionality
  • Based in Christchurch with some travel within NZ & occasionally internationally
Qualifications or Technical skills:
  • Ideally a degree in electrical engineering specialising in Automation & Control or similar.
  • Competency and experience in Substation Automation including Communications, Protocols and IEDs from a SCADA/HMI perspective is preferred
  • Candidates with experience in meter test-house lab procedures will be favoured.
  • Highly Proficient in software such as MS Office, VB6, SQL or other programming & database languages
  • A good command of the English language and written English is essential

 An ideal candidate will have;
  • New Zealand Permanent Residency
  • Customer Support skills
  • Technical skills (One or more of the following may be sufficient)
  • Revenue and/or power quality metering systems
  • Meter test-house procedures
  • Electrical engineering in a utility environment or heavy industrial environment, or other relevant knowledge/experience
  • Knowledge of installation & maintenance of applications in a Windows Server 2003 environment
  • Knowledge of Corporate networking and protocols (TCP-IP, Routers, Cyber Security etc)
  • Knowledge of Industrial networking & protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, etc)
  • Knowledge of Telemetry systems (Radio, GSM, GPRS, CDMA etc)
