Application Engineer
The role for the Application Engineer is to work as part of the Engineering team to complement existing activities.
Responsibilities:- Perform modifications & enhancements to existing systems
- Expanding customer systems for new revenue meters
- Oversee the companies laboratory and testing functions
- Administer the Company’s customer support contract activities
- Review support reports & action as appropriate
- Respond to support or information requests
- Develop & expand support documentation
- Perform period system reviews & report to system owner
- Occasionally visiting customers to review system performance & functionality
- Based in Christchurch with some travel within NZ & occasionally internationally
- Ideally a degree in electrical engineering specialising in Automation & Control or similar.
- Competency and experience in Substation Automation including Communications, Protocols and IEDs from a SCADA/HMI perspective is preferred
- Candidates with experience in meter test-house lab procedures will be favoured.
- Highly Proficient in software such as MS Office, VB6, SQL or other programming & database languages
- A good command of the English language and written English is essential
- Excellent command of the English language

- Customer Support skills
- Technical skills (One or more of the following may be sufficient)
- Revenue and/or power quality metering systems
- Meter test-house procedures
- Electrical engineering in a utility environment or heavy industrial environment, or other relevant knowledge/experience
- Knowledge of installation & maintenance of applications in a Windows Server 2003 environment
- Knowledge of Corporate networking and protocols (TCP-IP, Routers, Cyber Security etc)
- Knowledge of Industrial networking & protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, etc)
- Knowledge of Telemetry systems (Radio, GSM, GPRS, CDMA etc)
