Do you need to communicate with the System Operator via Secure ICCP?
Survalent’s substation automation system StationCentral, provided by Quasar Systems, is a cost-effective and simple-to-install solution for adding Secure ICCP functionality. StationCentral provides a resilient data acquisition engine, information aggregation and processing, and an HMI for utility operations at the substation level.
StationCentral is fully scalable from single- to quad-redundancy and can be configured in a distributed architecture over multiple substations to provide seamless interoperability between the substation and the control room. It supports a wide range of open and legacy protocols which run in native mode, so there is no need for an external protocol converter, internal converter, or front-end processor.
StationCentral can be installed on any SCADA system or as a stand alone system, and offers:

Data Acquisition Engine & Gateway
StationCentral includes STC Explorer, database editing software to manage all database points, access control, control zones, system parameters, and set up advanced applications. The database editor provides a graphical, tree-like representation of the complete database and supports easy navigation for editing. The Gateway solution converts protocols from substation devices to standard protocol, allowing you to communicate with systems outside your substation.
StationCentral accommodates an unlimited amount of status and control points, analog input points, text points, communication lines, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligence Electronic Devices (IEDs), reports, and graphic symbols. All workstation displays are updated and responsive to controls throughout an alarm burst. StationCentral is third-party tested and meets the system availability requirements in accordance with IEEE standards.
StationCentral supports a wide range of protocols including Secure ICCP, ICCP, MultiSpeak, OPC, SNMP, DNP3, Modbus RTU & TCP, and the family of IEC protocols.

I needed to share data from one of our generation stations with the System Operator using Secure ICCP, so I contacted the team at Quasar Systems as we had previously worked with them. They pulled together an economical option for me using Survalent StationCentral. The Quasar team worked with me through the concept design, and then we worked closely together through the integration and testing phase. We worked with them and also the System Operator during commissioning and the entire project was a very smooth process. I enjoyed working with Quasar on this project and would highly recommend their cost-effective solution when you are looking to communicate using Secure ICCP.
