Automated energy management enabling TVNZ to respond to spot-market electricity pricing in real time.
TVNZ’s Auckland broadcast facility operates significant electrical infrastructure to support studios, production systems, cooling, and building services. With an average electrical load of around 1.2 MW, managing electricity costs efficiently is critical.
To improve cost control and operational visibility, TVNZ partnered with Quasar to implement an automated load-management system capable of responding to fluctuations in the electricity spot market.

The solution is powered by Quasar Control, an intelligent load-management platform that enables automated switching between electricity sources based on real-time pricing.
At TVNZ, the system manages approximately 1.2 MW of electrical load across 12 building load groups, including major energy consumers such as chillers, pumps, and air-conditioning systems.
Operators can monitor electricity prices, building loads and system status through a central dashboard, providing complete visibility and control of the facility’s electrical infrastructure.
