We receive a Business Achievement Award for our work with AFFCO, one of New Zealand’s leading meat companies. Our fully supported and maintained energy monitoring system is in place across 10 AFFCO sites and incorporates production and energy data to provide AFFCO with visibility of energy usage and targets at site level as well as for each production area.
We also received a Technical Innovation Award, for the development of our Rapid Capture & Control solution. Both of these were awarded at the Schneider Electric Digital Power Leadership Summit 2020. |

The Quasar Portable Meter was created which offers a cost-effective solution for quickly gathering power quality data such as transients, harmonics, flicker and sag/swell, as well as energy data.

Quasar develops EDM (External Data Module), a Power Monitoring Expert add-on which lets you manually enter readings from devices and retailer invoices, when you don’t have communication to your metering devices.

Our RCC (Rapid Capture and Control) application is launched. RCC provides high-speed burst capture of electrical parameters with a given number of seconds before, and after a frequency event. This replaced our FCAS product.

Quasar were invited to attend an exclusive event at the Schneider Electric ION factory in Victoria, Canada. This event bought together the top performing partners globally who work with the Power Solutions for Critical Power line of business. While there, we were formally certified as an EcoXpert 'Master' for Critical Power.

We win the EEA Best Trade Exhibition Award at the Electrical Engineers' Association (EEA) Conference.

Each year we never cease to be amazed at the creativity of the exhibition stand layouts, themes and activities to attract delegates and visitors to stand sites. Quasar's new IT infrastructure wins two awards at the 2009 New Zealand Microsoft Partner Awards. Quasar's recent major upgrade of its IT infrastructure included the addition of Blade Servers and Microsofts EBS (Essential Business Server), Microsoft new operating system. This multi server configuration system created by Datasouth in collaboration with Quasar is the first in the South Island, and among the very first installs of its kind in New Zealand.

Our FCAS (Frequency Control Ancillary Services) application was released. This provided compliance monitoring of frequency excursions for utilities in the New Zealand and Australian markets.
From 2000 onwards we became increasingly involved with the monitoring, quantifying, analysing and reporting of power quality. |

Keith Hitchings and Richard Schwass meet at a trade show. This meeting leads to Richard setting up his own company (Power Control Solutions) to work with Quasar.

The Quasar team moved into larger premises at Birmingham Drive, Christchurch.

Quasar Electronics designed and commissioned automatic controls for New Zealand’s first industrial boiler complying with the AS-2593 Limited Attendance Standard at GL Bowron Limited in Christchurch.
Boiler controls continued to be an important aspect of our offering throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s. |

In our first few years, we developed several products to meet our clients and market needs including QPS Power Supply, QTI Temperature Indicator, QCS Current Source and QRT Temperature Transmitters.

Quasar Electronics Limited is founded as a supplier of industrial automation systems and process control instrumentation, with an aim to help customers become more efficient and effective through the deployment of new technologies, and to help them be more successful on the world stage.
