At the Schneider Electric 2021 Digital Power Leadership Summit, we presented a case study on how we had helped Argosy implement an energy management system to support their sustainability goals. The summit was attended by Schneider Electric EcoXpert Critical Power and Substation Automation Masters from across the globe, a number of which also presented case studies.
We’re delighted to announce that we won the Partner of Distinction Award for this work with Argosy. It’s always lovely to receive recognition for our work so a big congratulations to our team for this and in particular Richard, Arneil and Olivier who have been responsible for this project and presenting the case study.

A huge congrats to Peter, Saatyesh, Nathan and the team at Argosy, whose property at 82 Wyndham Street has become the first building in New Zealand to receive carbonzero certification (awarded by Toitū Envirocare and NZGBC). This is a fantastic achievement and adds to the great results they have already achieved at 82 Wyndham Street which also has a 5.5 NABERSNZ rating and a 5 Green Star rating.
We’re proud to have provided Argosy’s energy management system which they use to monitor and record energy usage, and provides the reporting they need to help them verify their energy savings. Argosy have implemented their energy management system across nine of their properties, including 82 Wyndham Street, with more properties in the process of being added.
“Argosy are committed to reducing our energy and carbon emissions footprint 30% over the next 10 years. Using the Quasar energy management system, we’ve been able to accurately track electricity usage throughout 82 Wyndham Street and use the data for our NABERSNZ and Toitū carbon emissions reporting certifications. The customisable reports feature allows us to capture only the information required for a specific rating or investigation without being bogged down by excessive data which saves us and our sustainability partners a lot of time.”
Nathan Herbert - Argosy
Congrats again Argosy!
The Quasar team has configured and implemented an energy management system for Argosy, one of New Zealand’s leading listed property companies. The energy management system provides energy consumption and efficiency data across Argosy's commercial property portfolio and is being rolled out across Argosy’s properties in stages with the first stage recently being handed over.
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) has recently installed a Quasar energy management system in their Wellington offices, to demonstrate the value of monitoring energy use. The system features an energy monitoring display using PowerLogic ION Enterprise software, which gathers, analyses, stores and displays all energy data in a user-friendly format.
The display provides an easy, cost-effective way of tracking energy use in the offices and saves on administrative costs as no manual meter reading is involved. It has also been tailored to allow EECA to compare energy use between its two different office floors.
Mike Underhill, Chief Executive, says the system allows EECA to identify opportunities to refine existing energy saving measures and demonstrate the potential for improving energy use in an office environment.
“The energy monitoring display has enabled EECA to identify a series of small improvements that combined add-up to a noticeable saving year on year.
The project also provides a valuable demonstration model that can be viewed by commercial building owners or tenants.”
Anyone interested in viewing the system should contact Senior Relationship Manager Mike Bourke at EECA, email email@example.com or phone (04) 470 2227.

Realtime Load Monitoring
Realtime monitoring of Peak Load by Northpower’s ION7700 and ION7650 meters became hot news in the Northern Advocate newspaper following a recent cold snap. Mike Hayes, Commercial Manager - Network of Northpower reports that the cold weather event imposed a peak load on Northpower’s network, and that the data from their ION meters enabled them to control peak demand and keep a close watch on events as they progressed during the day.
Quasar’s Unique Solution
Quasar supplied ION meters and an ION Enterprise Energy Monitoring system in 2008 which it supports remotely. This ensures that Northpower always has reliable, real-time and historical network information readily at hand.
